“Downtown, Up River: Bangor in the 1970s,” my debut publication with Islandport Press, is available wherever books are sold. Featuring hundreds of archival photos from the late 1960s until the early 1980s, the book details how Bangor, Maine changed in the years of urban renewal, big-box stores and nationwide social upheaval — transforming the landscape of a small Maine city. It was awarded a 2024 Maine Literary Award for Excellence in Publishing.
I write and edit the Substack newsletter The Other Maine, where I publish articles, interviews, essays and features twice a week on all things Maine: its culture, its people and its communities. We also feature contributors from all over Maine, a weekly roundup of things to do in eastern Maine, and are always open to new collaborators!
I’m a longtime writer, editor and social media and brand messaging consultant, and am available for freelance work in any of those areas. Email me if you’re interested in working together.
